FLORENCE COWBOY DAYS

FLORENCE COWBOY DAYS
JULY 25 & 26

In honor of the "National Day of the Cowboy"

Casino Night was a smashing success.  The fundraiser grossed around $12,000 and should net around $8,000.  Many, many thanks to the thirty-three cash sponsors, nearly fifty prize donors, and over 200 guests who enjoyed one great party at Gibby’s last Friday.  Special thanks to the Posse for a great Steak Fry.

Florence’s rendition of the National Day of the Cowboy proved that many organizations can work as one.  Kicking it off was a bank robbery on Friday, and Casino Night.  Then on Saturday, many events.  The Legion did breakfast, the re-enactors from SW Legend Gunfighters did the cowboy festival and quick draw contests in Jacques Square, McFarland had the well attended Victorian Fashion Show followed by the cowboy tool presentation.   The Dutch-oven cook-off served up some mighty fine grub that barely needed charcoal...it was so hot.  The poker tourney didn’t have a buy-in after all but plenty of folks still had a good time.  And the free dance at the Legion co-hosted by the Legion and the Elk’s Lodge capped the weekend off.  Mike Senseney, owner of Red Barn Guns, was coordinator for the Saturday events.  He and his team, everyone from the many groups, did one hell of a job.
